I arrived in Canada this afternoon to help my Mom prepare for Teresa's arrival - this Friday! We are really looking forward to meeting her and hope that she has a safe flight. It is a long way to come! Thank God it isn't snowing and forty below!! I expect I will talk to you again, but I wanted to be sure to thank you for all your help and hand holding over the many months. I literally couldn't have done it without you. It was lovely to know that I had a friendly guide on the other end of the phone. As you know, choosing a caregiver is a very difficult task, and your support was much appreciated. If you have any critical advice about our first few days, you know how to reach me....403. I will be here until next Wednesday at which time I have to go home and remind my husband that he indeed does have a wife. I have been gone a lot lately. With any luck, Teresa's arrival will help in that regard.

"I just wanted to let you know that Esperanza (Espie) has arrived and we are very pleased to have finally completed the process of getting her here to Canada. She was quite jet lagged and very reserved but is improving every day. We both just wanted to say thanks for all your help and patience. She seems like a delightful girl and very hard working. We found a neighbor who wanted to take her to church but she told me she wasn't ready for that just yet and we introduced her to some Filipinos who live here in Creston. They wanted her to come to a party they were having but she told me she wasn't ready for that either. i think that it has a lot to do with just feeling comfortable around us first. We are in the process of getting her a SIN number and registering her for medical. I have also looked into the process of paying her each month and gone over the online forms with her. Is there anything else I need to be doing at this time? Sorry we couldn't talk in person but really all I wanted to say is thank you."
